About the Project
DW Akademies project “Safe and loud; Media for powerful women online” brings together key actors from the MENA region to tackle the role of media in combating gender-based disinformation and violence. In a groundbreaking E-Think Tank, journalists, lawyers, women’s organizations, IT experts, and affected women collaborated to develop actionable solutions to prevent gendered disinformation and violence. The project is funded by the Federal Foreign Office.

E-Think Tank
A Groundbreaking Initiative
- The initiative focuses on empowering local and regional media to actively combat gendered disinformation against women.
- A select group of experts from Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, and Tunisia participated in a 7-day "E-Think Tank," aimed at refining and expanding existing solutions
- In cooperation with the foreign office DW Akademie hosted this event to drive the creation of concrete, media-driven approaches to address this urgent issue.
